A child on a grey pony being led through a paddock by an adult

Children & Pony Club

Big adventures start with small hooves.

A child's first ride is a small, quiet moment that often turns into years of it — the pony they never forget, the first rising trot, the muddy boots by the back door.

For parents

What to expect on the first visit.

You don't need boots, a hat, or any idea which lesson to ask for. Tell the team the rider's age and experience and they'll take it from there.

No experience needed

Most children arrive having never sat on a pony. The first lesson is about meeting the pony, not achieving anything.

Led at their pace

Nervous children are given time. Confident ones are given something to work towards. Both are normal.

More than riding

Leading, grooming, tacking up and yard manners are part of it — the horsemanship that stays with them.

Parents welcome to ask

Bring every question you have. Ask BRC can gather your child's age and experience before you even ring.
